Hitch star Eva Mendes may be beautiful and a Hollywood actress but that doesn’t have much cache in Washington D.C.
The Spirit star is a huge fan of President-elect Barack Obama. However, she was unable to secure an invitation to the historical inauguration of America’s first African-American president.
Mendes told Access Hollywood,
“Hottest ticket party in town. I thought I had some pull - I usually do, and I’ve been shut down. It’s the hardest party to get into. We are still working on it, but I understand the whole thing. They don’t want to make [the inauguration] a celebrity studded event because I understand this in an extremely crucial time in our history and in our world right now. And I understand not wanting to make [the inauguration] a star-studded event; I completely understand that. But of course, I would love to go and be there.”
The craziest part of Mendes’ quote is her belief that she would be present at a star-studded event. The actress is beautiful, that is for sure. However, she has yet to garner any critical acclaim. She is one in a long list of Hollywood starlets who get the roles that other actresses turn down. After all, with credits that include Ghost Rider, Stuck on You, and Urban Legends: Final Cut, Mendes will not be winning an Oscar anytime soon.
We predict that around 55, when Mendes’ looks fade she will become a serious actress in the same vein as Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling, and Doris Roberts. Like actress Sophia Loren, who bears a striking resemblance to Mendes, who went from sex symbol to Hollywood icon.
